Nails of the Week - Mixin' it up with SH & OPI
June 05, 2011While I'm on vacation, I like to pack up my supplies with me and do my nails when the time comes! I bought a couple while I was here, and ordered a few as well, so I have tons of brand new colours to try out & swatch :D
The main colour is OPI Rumple's Wiggin' which is a beautiful light purple creme. Application was smooth, and the colour was perfect in two coats.

My accent finger is the new crackle polish from Sally Hansen in Fuchsia Shock. Compared to the OPI shatter formulas, I found it to run a little thinner, but was easier to apply. The brush is also thinner, but the usual three stoke method per nail gave full coverage and a nice crackle effect. The bottle didn't state whether to apply to a fully dry nail, but I did and got a pretty good result. A thicker coat gives bigger cracks, while a thinner coat gives a greater number of thin cracks.

If you're new to shatter polishes, I would definitely recommend taking a look at the Sally Hansen line. They are a little easier to apply, and come at a cheaper price point. I can't say anything for the metallics yet, but I'm going to try to get my hands on a bottle soon! :)
